FAQs

How many sessions will I need?

That is dependent on you and your dog!  Your dog’s behavior issues, the goals you have for your dog, and how involved you are in the process determine the end-result. We do have a variety of session packages to choose from – Our “My Dog Obeys” Curriculum includes 7 in-person lessons as well as 7 virtual study halls. Our Basic Handlers Course is 4 in-person lessons and 4 virtual study halls. We also offer follow-up sessions once you and your dog have completed one of our Courses or Curriculum.

What type of training tactics do you use? Are you going to be harsh with my dog?

We are what’s known as balanced trainers. We believe the best kind of training is a mix that uses both “a carrot and a stick.” We lean more heavily toward reward-based training, but we also believe in firmly correcting a dog’s negative behaviors, especially when it comes to Aggressive issues. That being said, since we are actually teaching you how to handle your dog, we would never teach you a training tactic you would be uncomfortable enforcing!

What happens after the training? Is there follow-up?

Yes! We offer follow-up sessions once you have concluded one of our courses or curriculum! In fact, we would love to see both you and your dog again! Many students benefit from reinforcement of skills, and our follow-up sessions often focus on more advanced training, such as confidently venturing out into public like a restaurant or coffee shop with their perfectly obedient pup.

What parts of the Valley do you travel to?

We generally travel to anywhere in the greater Phoenix area, including areas like Peoria, Glendale, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Mesa and the North Valley – in specific cases other options may be possible for an extra travel fee.

Is it possible there’s a dog that’s too aggressive for training? Will I have to put my dog down

It is possible, but not probable. We’ve very rarely encountered a dog we couldn’t handle or most importantly – teach an owner how to handle. But, it does happen, especially if a dog has shown severe aggression where they’ve attacked and drawn blood.

Can you help with multiple dogs in a house?

Yes! We charge by the session, not by the number of dogs! Whether it’s one dog or multiple, we’re here to help you become leader of the pack!

Are there any dog breeds you won’t work with?

When we say any size, any breed, any issue, we mean it! All breeds are welcome to have a discovery call and/or consultation. As mentioned previously, there’s very rarely been a dog that was beyond our curriculum’s capabilities.

How young is too young and how old is too old?

Usually three months is the youngest age for our curriculum, however, we have helped brand new puppy owners with the basics during a one-hour prep course to set them up for later success. As for a maximum age, we can certainly teach an old dog new tricks! But training may be limited based on your dog’s physical limitations that come with age.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes! We will have a contract which explains everything. It is so important for you to be committed to the program and consistent with the training, and that’s why we require fees up front and have a contract in place so you (and your pup) can get the most out of our curriculum.

What can I expect from my experience?

You will gain communication skills and the confidence you need to handle your dog no matter the situation, and your dog will gain skills they need to be obedient and well-behaved. You will be able to proudly say, “My Dog Obeys!” as well as be rewarded with an amazing, loving relationship with your canine counterpart that others will be envious of!
