What We Do
At Reyes K9 Academy, we turn canine owners into canine handlers, so that they can proudly say, My Dog Obeys! We know from experience that so many dog owners want to be able to enjoy an amazing relationship with their dog, but simply don’t have the tools necessary to get there. Whether you have a puppy that needs training, or an older dog that needs proper handling, we are here to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to enjoy a loving relationship with your canine counterpart, where you’re in charge. Any size, any breed, any issue – we’ll teach you how to confidently handle every situation.

Handsome Thor
“Amazing K9 instructor! Eric trains and educates the pet owners first, then works with your pet (real dog whisper). His detailed assessments differentiate between your dog running wild and being obedient. He has helped my wife, children, and I understand Handsome Thor (our dog) and the best ways to communicate and train him. I highly recommend his K9 services.

Luna
“We had the opportunity to work with Eric on our dachshund puppy. We learned so much in just a few sessions, and established good behaviors. We learned how to make sure she never tried to sneak out, and it has been an amazing puppy experience thanks to Eric. We will always work with Eric if we have any more dogs.”

Why Choose Reyes K-9 Academy?
Envision an Educational Canine Curriculum that teaches the Basic Psychology behind your canine counterpart while instilling the fundamental differences between Owning a dog vs. Handling your dog. At Reyes K-9 Academy, we believe that teaching ones dog to Obey is simply not enough. There needs to be a relationship, which is established and maintained from human to canine and vice versa. That’s where we come in. Our private, in-home sessions are designed to allow you to more clearly communicate with your dog to further deepen the bond you share and ensure that you have the confidence to effectively manage your pup’s behavior long after our lessons conclude. With our extensive background in understanding the basic psychology of dogs and their behaviors, our educational program works best with dog owners who are willing to put in the time and energy to understand their pup. We want to actively partner with you to teach you all the tricks of the trade in handling your dog. We know you love your dog, and we know your dog can be amazingly well-trained; all you need is Reyes K-9 Academy.
I’ve learned how to have an amazing relationship with my dog and I love teaching others how to experience the same.”

Private, In-Home Dog Training Lessons in The Valley of the Sun
Whether you have one dog or a pack of dogs, our curriculum is custom-tailored to take the chaos out of canine ownership. At Reyes K-9 Academy, we proudly offer a couple of different course options to fit your needs, and we travel to you to observe your canine’s behaviors both in your home and in their neighborhood while on a leash. Based on the concerns you have about your pup, whether it’s a lack of basic manners, aggression, poor leash control, or something else, we have the experience to teach you the skills to be able to safely and effectively manage your dog’s behavior.
Phoenix’s Expert Dog Trainers
Just like children need parents who are lovingly and consistently reinforcing boundaries and rules for their behavior, dogs also need to know that they have a family leader who is capable of enforcing rules and boundaries for them. Dogs have to understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behaviors so they can make good decisions, and they can only learn that from you, the human they love and trust the most. Our number one goal is never to train your dog for you, but to instead train you to handle your dog so that you both can enjoy a long-lasting, loving relationship together. The best part of what we do is getting to see our human students and their beloved canines truly become best friends, and we can’t wait for you to experience the joy of having an amazing relationship with your pup. FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
That is dependent on you and your dog! Your dog’s behavior issues, the goals you have for your dog, and how involved you are in the process determine the end-result. We do have a variety of session packages to choose from – Our “My Dog Obeys” Curriculum includes 7 in-person lessons as well as 7 virtual study halls. Our Basic Handlers Course is 4 in-person lessons and 4 virtual study halls. We also offer follow-up sessions once you and your dog have completed one of our Courses or Curriculum.
What type of training tactics do you use? Are you going to be harsh with my dog?
We are what’s known as balanced trainers. We believe the best kind of training is a mix that uses both “a carrot and a stick.” We lean more heavily toward reward-based training, but we also believe in firmly correcting a dog’s negative behaviors, especially when it comes to Aggressive issues. That being said, since we are actually teaching you how to handle your dog, we would never teach you a training tactic you would be uncomfortable enforcing!
